I am a web developer who with demonstrated ability over the past 5 years. I have worked with multiple web programming languages (html, css, javascript, php, asp, actionscript2/3, xml) as well as many application tools (Flash, Photoshop, MySQL, SQLServer) for the purpose of building dynamic, data-driven and interactive websites.
In each project that I work on I first start with outlining the definition of the project goals. For Front-end web projects involving just html/css and aesthetic design this also involves some wireframing. For Back-end projects involving server-side code and databases, this involves creating a Class Diagrams and entity-relationship diagram. Over the last couple of years I discovered the art of mindmapping to clearly define projects. I highly recommend iMindMap for anyone interested in learning how this works.
From the beginning, I take the details of each step in the requirements and break them up into smaller parts which I prioritize. In this priorization, I make every effort to follow best practices and industry standards regarding each language. The big picture architecture and how things will fit together is important to avoid the DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) occurences common when people sit down and start development without a plan.
I believe in the benefits of first doing a case analysis of what is possible vs. what is feasible. For example, a project can be broken up into preparing visual assets vs. structuring code. Sometimes I need to set aside some time to use Photoshop to do image optimizations when working collaboratively with a creative team. Similarly, I make time to establish a file naming convention and folder structure protocol. This makes a project go faster vs. needing to toggle back and forth between entirely different processes in the development cycle.
Flash, ActionScript 3 and PHP are my favorite to work with. I develop using PHP using WAMP and using the software PHP Designer which I purchased in 2009.
I consider my strengths to include this capability and I work efficiently at a high level. I welcome the opportunity to work with open-source projects with others involved with this technology.
